Perlis Traditional Boat Festival Race

Perlis is the smallest state in Malaysia. It lies in the northern part of the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. They constantly have traditional boat races. This particular event took place in an irrigation canal that supplies water to the surrounding paddy fields. I cut the clip just to show the ending of two local teams battling it out at the finals, due most of the recording at the beginning was very jittery(forgot the tripod). Since this was a Festival race standing was allowed. The canal was neither deep nor wide hence a lot of drag and wash riding was involved. To add to the excitement of the race, you can actually follow the boats at the side. Here is the clip.
